Most people mainly pay attention to the display size (diagonal, in Inches) of a device, but the diagonal only tells you how big the inner-screen is, and not how big the whole device –bezel included- is. This can be hugely important in a world where it is often difficult to grasp and compare how devices really feel like unless you actually hold two or more in your own hands.
The Display to body ratio is a simple data that tells you how much of the surface the screen represents when compared to the whole device. For example, a device with a ratio of 50% would have as much body surface visible from the front as it has screen surface.
On the other hand, a device with a 100 ratio would have no visible body when looked at from the front.
This metric is particularly important when considering a large display phone. As manufacturers push for larger sizes of 5.5” and beyond, the final size of the device will largely depend on this ratio. Arguably, this is one of the most important ergonomic piece of data for such a device, especially for phones.
