Tecnovelero SL (CEO Javier Lavernia) announced its participation in “COMEUP Stars 2024,” part of the global startup festival COMEUP 2024.
COMEUP Stars 2024 will feature 50 innovative startups in a competitive IR pitching session called “Startup Valley.” Participants include 30 companies in the Rookie League, 10 in the Runners League, and 10 selected from the Rocket League, which is based on recommendations from the COMEUP House and the advisory committee. The finalists represent 13 countries, including South Korea, the United States, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, India, and Türkiye, showcasing COMEUP’s global scale.
Tecnovelero SL is a Spanish techno-industrial startup focused on developing innovative and sustainable mobility solutions. The company aims to create technologies that address urban mobility challenges, reduce CO2 emissions, and combat global warming. Tecnovelero is pioneering advancements in hydrogen-powered vehicles, creating safe, efficient, and accessible solutions that align with the paradigm shift in urban transportation.
At COMEUP 2024, Tecnovelero will present its flagship product, the Virante car, a hydrogen-powered electric vehicle (FCEV) designed for car-sharing and fleet use. The Virante car offers a unique combination of accessibility, flexibility, and sustainability. Unlike traditional hydrogen-powered vehicles that rely on high-pressure hydrogen recharging infrastructure, the Virante car features a Hydrogen Swapping System (H2SW). This system allows users to swap low-pressure hydrogen tanks in seconds, eliminating lengthy recharge times and providing a seamless, user-friendly experience. The vehicle boasts an impressive range of over 400 kilometers, making it a practical solution for metropolitan areas.
In addition, Tecnovelero has developed eTIV technology (Tilting Variable Technology), which enhances vehicle stability, comfort, and safety. This patented innovation improves the driving experience and sets the Virante car apart. By focusing on user safety and convenience, Tecnovelero is redefining sustainable urban mobility.
The company has achieved significant milestones, including over 36,000 hours of R&D, multiple prototypes, and prestigious awards such as the “Innovation SME” accreditation and the Best Startup Chamber of Tarragona Award. Tecnovelero is also a member of the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance and the Hydrogen Valley Catalonia South, demonstrating its commitment to advancing clean energy solutions. The company plans to begin production of its vehicles in 2026, with a strategic focus on partnerships and collaborations during this development phase.
Participating in COMEUP 2024 aligns with Tecnovelero’s plan to expand its presence in Asia, particularly in markets like China, Korea, and Japan. These regions are leaders in EV automotive technologies, hybrid mobility, and hydrogen innovations, making them ideal partners for Tecnovelero’s vision. The company also aims to localize production in high-demand areas, creating jobs in final assembly, logistics, and other industrial activities.
During the event, Tecnovelero hopes to connect with Asian partners, consultancy firms, and potential collaborators to further its goal of offering sustainable mobility solutions for emerging countries and heavily polluted metropolitan areas. The company’s benchmarking with Spain’s Ministry of Exportations, ICEX, estimates a potential production capacity of 200,000 units, representing a market opportunity of $2.4 billion in the Asia-Pacific region.
COMEUP 2024 will occur on December 11–12 at Coex in Seoul, featuring innovative startups and investors from over 40 countries. This year’s theme, “Innovation Beyond Borders,” highlights startups’ roles in driving global innovation across boundaries of nations and technology. The event will feature conferences, pitching sessions, and exhibitions focusing on deep tech, inbound innovation, and SIS (Sustainable Innovation by Startup).
