Sorcerics (CEO Hyeonjong Ryu) announced its participation in “COMEUP Stars 2024.”
COMEUP Stars 2024, the core event of the global startup festival COMEUP 2024, will feature competitive IR pitching sessions in “Startup Valley.” A total of 50 teams will compete, including 30 Rookie League companies, 10 Runners League companies, and 10 selected from the Rocket League through recommendations by the advisory committee. Finalists from 13 countries, including South Korea, the U.S., the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, India, and Türkiye, highlight the event’s global scale.
Sorcerics specializes in home automation services powered by Vision AI. Its proprietary AI model analyzes camera footage to understand situations and consumer needs, providing reports, alerts, or control over IoT and smart devices. Inspired by AI assistants like “Jarvis” from the Marvel series or the AI in the movie “Her,” the company aims to enhance consumers’ quality of life through innovative AI-driven services.
Founded two years ago by former employees of Google and Microsoft, Sorcerics is staffed by top-tier talent, including international algorithm competition finalists and alums from BCG, Seoul National University, and KAIST. The company plans to launch its business first in the U.S. market.
Currently, Sorcerics is conducting PoC projects with major Korean companies and has validated its senior-focused product “SOL for Seniors” with LG Electronics. The company is also exploring various commercialization opportunities with large corporations.
Sorcerics highlights its unique strength in developing a lightweight language model optimized for home automation, capable of running on the RPI4 system using on-device AI. “All data is processed locally, eliminating the risk of data leakage while ensuring the highest level of security,” the company explained. “Additionally, while one-third of customers struggle with installing smart devices, SOL only requires a Wi-Fi connection, offering seamless home automation without complex ‘routine settings.’”
Sorcerics plans to expand its market presence through partnerships with large corporations and launch a crowdfunding campaign in late 2025. “We will connect with customers through various channels, including social media and offline events, ahead of our official market entry,” the company added.
COMEUP 2024 will occur on December 11–12 at Coex in Seoul, featuring innovative startups and investors from over 40 countries. This year’s theme, “Innovation Beyond Borders,” highlights startups’ roles in driving global innovation across boundaries of nations and technology. The event will feature conferences, pitching sessions, and exhibitions focusing on deep tech, inbound innovation, and SIS (Sustainable Innovation by Startup).
