Instant messengers rely on the internet and should you find yourself without a stable internet connection, voicemail can still be accessed as long as you have cell reception, making it a “better” choice since it will work regardless of your internet connection status.

Setting Up Voicemail For Android
Method 1
- Open the Phone app on your phone
- In the dialer screen, tap and hold the number “1” to call your voicemail service
- If your voicemail is setup, you might be asked for a PIN
- If you haven’t setup your voicemail yet, you might hear an error message saying you do not have voicemail setup
- Follow the instructions on how to setup voicemail for your number
- Hang up when you’re done
- Press and hold the number “1” on the dialer to call your voicemail to confirm it is setup

- Launch the default Phone dialer app that comes with your phone
- Tap the three dots icon located at the top right corner
- Select Settings
- Select Voicemail
- Go to Advanced Settings
- Tap Setup
- Tap Voicemail Number
- Enter your phone number and tap OK
Why Setup Voicemail?
Like we said, voicemail is a good alternative to instant messengers and will work even if you don’t have an internet connection, so it’s a good way to leave messages that can be accessed anytime and almost anywhere. It’s also a good way to let people leave you a message in case your phone is turned off or you’re busy.
