How To Find Your Router IP Address

To access the main settings of your router, you need to provide a Router IP address. The address is not unique for every router, but still there is no universal router IP address either. The good news is, you can easily find your Router’s IP address right inside your PC without going nuts.

The router IP address is different from your Private or Public IP address. However, your router ip address can be easily found right inside your PC where all other network information is available.

In this Tutorial, we are going to show you two different methods to find your router IP address using your PC. You can use the one that seems easier to follow.

Method #1: Use The Command Prompt to Find Your Router IP address

The easiest method to find your router IP address is from the Command prompt (if you are comfortable with it). There isn’t much to tinker around, with a simple command you will have all the details.

To get started, press Windows+R keys on your Keyboard, this will open “Run” program. Now enter “cmd” in the blank field and click on “OK”.

You will see a program with a black screen, that’s the Command prompt. Here type “ipconfig” and press “Enter”, you will see different parameters in the same window.

Your router IP address is located next to “Default Gateway”, in our case, it is “192.168.1.1”.

Just enter this Address in the Search bar of your browser, and you should be able to reach the login screen of your router.

Method #2: Router IP Address From Network Details

If you are not comfortable with using the Command Prompt, then you can also find your IP address in your PC’s network settings. Before starting, make sure you are connected to the network, wirelessly or via ethernet cable.

In the system tray, click on the “Bars” icon or “Monitor” icon (depending on how you are connected), and then click on “Open Network and Sharing Center”.

A window will open up, in there, click on the blue link located next to the “Connection” option. The name of the link may vary depending on your connection, in our case, it is “Local Area Connection 8”.

In the next window, click on “Details” and you will see all the details regarding your network. In there, router IP address will be located next to “Default Gateway”.

You will have to memorize or take a screenshot of the router IP address as you cannot copy the address from this window.
