There are even third-party websites that may help you easily find those people on Instagram. There are simple methods to find people on Instagram and get social on Instagram. Here they are…
Method #1: Search for people manually
You can use Instagram’s “Search” option to find friends, posts of your interest and celebrities and brands. It does requires manual input of keywords or usernames, but the results are quite accurate.
All you need to do is tap on the “Magnifying glass” icon in the main interface and you will see a “Search” option above. Here you can search by “People”, “Tags” and “Places”. Just enter the name of the user or exact username (if you know) to find them. You can also enter name of brands and celebrities to search their official accounts (it will have a blue “Tick mark” next to it).
“Tags” work as categories, you can enter a tag of interest, such as “Gadgets”, and you will find all posts tagged in that category. It’s a good way to find people and posts about a topic you like.
Method #2: Suggested Users
Instagram also suggests users that share the same interests as you. To find suggested users, tap on the “Magnifying glass” icon, and then tap on “Discover People” button below the “Search” bar.
Now, you will be able to see all the suggested user along with a “Follow” button and their pictures below. Just scroll between them and tap on “Follow” if you find anyone of interest.
Method #3: Find Your Facebook Friends on Instagram
You can also find your Facebook friends that are on Instagram as well by allowing Instagram to connect with your Facebook account. To find Facebook friends, tap on your “Profile” icon in the main interface and then tap on the “Settings” icon at the top right corner (it will have three vertical dots icon).
In the “Settings”, you will see the option “Find Facebook Friends”, tap it and confirm the access to your Facebook when asked. You should now be able to see all your friends that are on Facebook and who are also using Instagram.
Method #4: Use a Third-Party Website
Instagram’s web client is not very feature-rich, and only offers manual search option to find other users. Fortunately, there are third-party websites that will let you find people on Instagram using different factors. For this purpose, InstaBAM is a good site. It was created to help you find Instagram users that are taking photos near your location.
Just tap on “Find Photos Near Me” button in the main interface and you will be able to access the main menu. Here you can easily find people that are taking picture near you (Location tracking should be enabled). You can also use a map to specify a particular location to find Instagram users in that specific area.
