By default, when you do a fresh install of Windows, your default browser will be Internet Explorer, or in the case of Windows 10, the new Edge browser. While there’s nothing wrong with Edge, in fact it’s actually pretty great, you might prefer using a different browser for other reasons.
Perhaps you’re a heavy Google user and prefer using Chrome with its deep integration with your Google account and services. Or maybe you value your privacy and prefer using Mozilla’s Firefox. So, how does one change their default browser on Windows to a different browser? Check out the simple steps below to get started.
How To Change Windows 10’s Default Browser
- Go to Windows Settings
- Select Apps
- On the sidebar to the left, select Default apps
- Scroll down to Web browser and click on it
- It will bring up a list of already-installed browsers on your computer. Select the browser of your choice and you’re good to go.
- Repeat the steps above if you’d like to change the default browser again
