At CES 2025, Roborock introduced the Saros flagship series, marking a significant advancement in AI-powered home robotics. The series includes three products: the Roborock Saros Z70, Saros 10, and Saros 10R, all set to launch in major global markets in 2025. These products combine intelligent features driven by AI with advanced robotics hardware, enhancing automated home cleaning and object management.
Roborock Saros Z70: A New Standard in Home Cleaning
The Roborock Saros Z70 is designed to push the boundaries of robotic vacuum technology. One of the key innovations is the OmniGrip, a foldable robotic arm with five axes, capable of deploying to manage and remove small objects like socks, towels, tissue paper, and sandals weighing under 300 grams. This feature addresses common household cleaning obstacles, reducing the need for manual intervention.
During its first cleaning session, the Z70 performs standard cleaning operations while mapping the environment and identifying obstacles. The robotic arm returns to previously obstructed areas in subsequent sessions to ensure thorough cleaning. This two-phase process enhances efficiency and ensures comprehensive floor coverage.
The OmniGrip arm is equipped with precision sensors, an LED light, and a camera, allowing it to detect and interact with objects accurately. Users can customize its behavior through the Roborock app, choosing which objects the arm can move and specifying where they should be placed. For safety, the device includes a child-lock feature and an emergency stop button.
Enhanced Navigation and Obstacle Detection
The Saros Z70 features the StarSight Autonomous System 2.0, integrating dual-light 3D Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensors and RGB cameras instead of traditional laser distance sensors. This system enhances the robot’s ability to map environments and detect obstacles with high precision. By utilizing AI-driven learning, the Z70 can recognize up to 108 different objects, including cables and toys, significantly improving its obstacle-avoidance capabilities.
Additionally, the system will support Over-The-Air (OTA) updates, allowing users to define and label up to 50 new objects within the app. This feature adds flexibility, enabling the robot to adapt to changing home environments.
VertiBeam Lateral Obstacle Avoidance
Another innovative feature is VertiBeam Lateral Obstacle Avoidance, designed to address cleaning challenges posed by cables and irregular furniture shapes. The Z70 uses vertical lasers to extend its field of vision, improving detection of both horizontal and vertical obstacles. This minimizes bumps and enhances navigation around complex environments.Suction Power and Mopping Performance
The Saros Z70 delivers powerful cleaning performance with 22,000 Pa of suction power, supported by a dual anti-tangle system comprising a FreeFlow Main Brush and a liftable FlexiArm Riser Side Brush. These components prevent hair and debris from tangling around the brushes, ensuring consistent cleaning performance.
The Z70 is equipped with dual spinning mops capable of lifting by up to 2.2 cm. This lifting feature prevents cross-contamination by raising the mops when the vacuum moves across clean surfaces, enhancing hygiene.
Slim Design and Adaptive Chassis
At just 7.98 cm in height, the Roborock Saros Z70 is one of the slimmest robot vacuums on the market, allowing it to clean under low-profile furniture. Its AdaptiLift Chassis can adjust the robot’s height to navigate over carpets of varying pile lengths, further enhancing its versatility.Multifunctional Dock 4.0
The Saros Z70 can be paired with the Roborock Multifunctional Dock 4.0, which offers 2.5-hour fast charging, reducing downtime between cleaning sessions. The dock also features 80°C hot water mop washing and auto mop removal. These features prevent the mops from dampening carpets or unnecessary areas by detaching them when vacuuming tasks are prioritized.
User Experience and App Integration
The enhanced Roborock app introduces SmartPlan 2.0, allowing AI to adjust cleaning routes, suction power, and water volume based on usage patterns and environmental data. The app enables users to create custom modes, schedule cleaning tasks, and adjust settings more precisely.
Pet-Friendly Features
The Z70 incorporates pet-friendly intelligence, using its camera to provide video call and cruise functions, allowing users to monitor their pets. Pet Area Recognition stops the vacuum’s main brush when approaching pets, and the Search for the Pet function helps locate pets around the home. Additionally, the device can capture photos of pets during cleaning sessions.
Voice Activation and Connectivity
The Saros Z70 supports voice activation through the “Hello, Rocky!” command, enabling hands-free operation. It is compatible with Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri Shortcuts, and Google Home. Future updates will introduce the Matter 1.4 protocol, enhancing interoperability with other smart home systems. Users will also have the option to control the device through Apple Watch and Launcher Widgets.
