Sharp Corporation demonstrated an outdoor-compatible A0-sized ePoster, which received the prestigious Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry Award at CEATEC AWARD 2024. This award is given to the most innovative technologies, products, and services among exhibitors at that tradeshow, held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba City.
The Sharp ePoster stands out due to its groundbreaking energy efficiency. Using technology similar to color e-paper, it requires no power to retain images on display. Power consumption only occurs when the display’s content is updated, making it highly energy efficient. The poster uses electronic paper technology developed by E Ink Holdings Inc., known for its superior paper-like readability and vibrant color display.
The A0-sized display is created by combining four A2-sized panels, making it ideal for large outdoor signage and advertising applications. We could not see any seem between the sub-panels.
One of its most notable features is its ability to operate entirely off-grid, as it incorporates solar panels and a battery storage system. This self-sufficiency allows the ePoster to function in areas without external power sources, with the system generating and storing electricity from sunlight to power the display updates.
The rugged design makes it suitable for outdoor use, with features like waterproofing, dustproofing, and enhanced durability to withstand harsh environments. Its versatility extends beyond advertising, as it can display important information, including disaster notifications and evacuation routes during emergencies.
This innovative ePoster reflects Sharp’s commitment to sustainable technology, contributing to carbon neutrality by promoting low-energy, solar-powered solutions. With this award-winning development, Sharp continues to explore new ways to integrate advanced display technologies into practical, eco-friendly applications that meet green ambitions.
