London-based tech company Nothing has generated buzz with teasers about a new device, sparking speculation among its followers. Known for its distinctive product launches, Nothing previously teased its first smartphone, the Nothing Phone 1, and subsequent models through social media and community updates. Recently, CEO Carl Pei hinted at a new smartphone, likely the Nothing Phone 3, by sharing images of a redesigned quick settings UI that included an unfamiliar button not present on earlier models.

Nothing’s latest teaser, shared on its social media account, shows a device with a prominent screw, leading to various speculations. The accompanying caption “3,2,1” suggests the device is close to launch. While the device’s design doesn’t immediately propose a smartphone due to the bulky screw, Nothing’s history of unconventional designs keeps the possibility open. Some speculate it might be the company’s first tablet or even a laptop base panel.
A subsequent tweet with a phone and screw emoji further fueled the smartphone speculation. Given Nothing’s trend of releasing new devices in July, these hints likely indicate the upcoming announcement is near. The screw might imply the device’s focus on repairability, akin to the Fairphone 5.

There is also speculation that this new device could be part of Nothing’s sub-brand, CMF, which follows a different design path. CMF is expected to release its first smartphone, rumored to cost around Rs 12,000 (~$140). The device in the teaser might be the CMF Phone 1, not the Nothing Phone 3.
Leaker @Technerd_9 suggests the CMF Phone 1 will feature a 6.7-inch OLED display, MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset, a 5,000mAh battery, and 33W charging. Notably, it might include replaceable plastic back covers and a lock system, aligning with the teaser’s emphasis on the screw.
While these details remain speculative, they hint at an affordable, user-friendly device from CMF. The credibility of the leak is uncertain, so these insights should be viewed with caution. Nonetheless, the potential CMF Phone 1 appears to be a promising addition to the market.
