HP has refreshed its OMEN Transcend 16.1-inch Gaming Laptop PC, featuring a notable upgrade with the addition of a striking 4K OLED display option. The key highlight of this model is the display, offering a resolution of 2560×1600 and an impressive 240Hz refresh rate — users also have the option of a simpler display with 1920×1200 (165Hz) IPS.
Powered by Intel’s newly introduced Raptor Lake Refresh microprocessors, specifically the Core i7-14700HX or Core i9-14900HX, this laptop provides PC makers, including HP, with a choice between the power-efficient Core Ultra and the more performance-oriented Raptor Lake Refresh architecture, previously introduced on desktops.
In terms of graphics, HP opts for flexibility by allowing users to choose between Nvidia’s GeForce GPUs: RTX 4050, RTX 4060, or RTX 4070. Memory configurations offer a choice between 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5x-7467 DRAM, and storage options include 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB of PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD, pushing the limits beyond the 2023 model.
While sharing similar configurations with the OMEN Transcend 14, also launched today at CES 2024, the Transcend 16 has a slightly slower RAM clock speed at DDR-5 5600; Port options include two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two 5Gbps USB-A ports, Wi-Fi 7, and Wi-Fi 6e wireless choices. Charging returns to a traditional barrel charger due to increased power demands, resulting in a weight of 4.62 pounds and a thickness of 0.78 inches.
Offering color choices in Ceramic Black and Shadow White, the OMEN Transcend 16 Gaming Laptop PC is set to be available starting January 10, 2024, with a base price of $1,899.99 on HP.com. This updated model caters to users seeking a blend of gaming performance and high-quality display capabilities.
