In an upcoming update, WhatsApp is “cooking up” a feature that will allow you to share photos and videos in their full, original quality. The buzz about this feature comes from WABetaInfo, after they got their hands on version 2.23.18.12 of the WhatsApp beta for Android.

So, here’s the scoop: You’ll soon be able an option in the app to “select original quality photos or videos.” And here’s the kicker —these files will be treated like documents. Check out the screenshot shared by WABetaInfo:

In the image, we can spot options like the “choose from gallery” one in the app’s document picker; And yes, it’s all about the magic of sending photos and videos with their full quality intact.

No More Workarounds Needed

Remember those tricks you had to play earlier, like changing file extensions to PDF or DOC to preserve the original quality? Well, say goodbye to that song and dance. This new feature promises to put an end to the workaround woes — It’s all about convenience, baby!

While WhatsApp did roll out the “HD” picture-sending option not long ago, even that didn’t save images from a touch of compression before hitting the send button; Same story for those 720p videos that dropped last week. But hey, with the ability to send original filez finally on the horizon, both Android and iOS users can finally breathe easy and share their media in all its high-res glory.
