Instagram has unveiled a fresh addition that permits users to download Reels, albeit with specific limitations. Initially introduced in August 2020 as a response to the burgeoning popularity of TikTok, Reels has now aligned itself more closely with its competitor by empowering users to obtain videos and distribute them on other platforms.
While this functionality was not available in the early stages, Instagram has broadened its horizons to grant viewers the ability to secure their beloved Reels.
Adam Mosseri, the Chief Executive Officer of Instagram, shared this enhanced feature through one of the platform’s new broadcasting channels. To procure a Reel shared by a public account, users simply need to tap the “Share” icon and choose the download alternative.
According to Hyperbeast, at this very moment, the download feature is solely accessible to users within the confines of the United States. It is vital to bear in mind that private accounts are not eligible for downloads.
Furthermore, public accounts have the option to deactivate the ability to download Reels through their account settings, should they wish to do so.
Analogous to TikTok, downloaded Reels will encompass the Instagram watermark and the account handle affiliated with the content.
