Lancia, the Italian car brand, just unveiled its first 100% electric car, the Pu+Ra HPE, at Milan Design Week 2023. The car’s name symbolizes the company’s 10-year vision for electric mobility, with Pu+Ra referring to the brand’s new design language, and HPE standing for High-Performance Electric. The company claims that the Pu+Ra HPE has a range of over 700 km and takes just over 10 minutes to be fully charged, consuming fewer than 10 kWh per 100 km. The car has a circular roof for panoramic views and is equipped with a smart virtual interface (S.A.L.A.) that integrates audio, climate control, and lighting functions; the vehicle also responds well to voice commands and has three modes that adapt to the mood of the driver (and passengers).
The Lancia Pu+Ra HPE is the first car inspired by the world of Italian furniture design, with furniture company Cassina collaborating on the car’s interior; the design aims to create a home-like atmosphere within the electric vehicle, featuring a round carpet in the front seats, tables with clear cuts and large windows. The car’s green hue is named ‘progressive green,’ representing Lancia’s commitment to renewable energy.
Luca Napolitano, the CEO of Lancia, said the new model marks the brand’s entrance into electric vehicles, and future Lancia cars will be inspired by the Pu+Ra HPE design, that has been showcased in Milan’s Via Durini, in front of the Milan Cassina Store, one of the event’s main venues. Lancia has participated in Milan Design Week 2023 as part of its rebranding efforts, guided by the fil rouge of Lancia Renaissance. The car company is now focusing on design as one of the pillars of its rebirth path.
