YouTube TV For iOS Now Supports Picture-In-Picture Mode

One of the benefits of using a PC instead of a phone or a tablet is that PCs generally offer up better multitasking. For example, you could have one window running a video and you can switch between them while doing other things. On smartphones or tablets, it’s not as straightforward as it is dependent on the app.

For those who are subscribed to YouTube TV, you will be happy to learn that according to an announcement by YouTube, they have revealed that picture-in-picture support for YouTube TV on iOS is finally being rolled out to users. The rollout seems to be done in stages and is server-side enabled, meaning that even if you have the latest version of the app, it doesn’t necessarily mean you will get the feature straightaway.

It is actually slightly disappointing that it took YouTube this long to bring the feature to its iOS app, especially since it’s been a while since iOS officially supported picture-in-picture, but we suppose better late than never. Also, it’s a bit odd that YouTube TV is supporting the feature but not the main YouTube app, where picture-in-picture was supposed to be one of the perks of being a YouTube Premium subscriber.

In any case, if you do stream a fair bit on YouTube TV on your iOS device, then keep an eye out for this feature which should be making its way to users as we speak.
