Nothing’s First Smartphone Could Be Announced Next Month

As some of you might have known by now, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei left the company a while ago to form a new company called Nothing. To date, the company hasn’t really done much except launch a pair of their own true wireless earbuds, but now it looks like the company is planning their own smartphone.

This is according to a report from TechCrunch who heard from their source that Nothing has actually been developing their own smartphone for over a year and could actually unveil the handset next month. Pei is also said to have been showing off a prototype of the device at meetings with various key industry executives at MWC 2022 this week, and TechCrunch claims to have also seen a photo of Pei meeting with Qualcomm’s CEO.

To be fair, it’s not such a ludicrous idea that Nothing could be developing their own phone. After all, Pei and OnePlus made a name for themselves over the years, so it makes sense that he would try and use his experience to build something new. Pei did tell the publication last year that Nothing had a lot of products in the works, so a phone definitely seems like it could be one of them.

Not much is known about the handset for now, but if the launch in April is true, we won’t have to wait too long to find out what the company has up their sleeves and how it will fare in today’s market.
