A report from last week suggested that Apple could be working on a new computer called the Mac Studio. This is supposed to be some kind of hybrid between the Mac mini and the Mac Pro, where the computer is expected to have a similar-ish form factor of the Mac mini, meaning small and compact, but offer up better performance like the Mac Pro.
For those wondering what it could look like, we could most likely get a glimpse of it at Apple’s upcoming March 8 event, but if you can’t wait, don’t worry because YouTuber Luke Miani has shared what he claims is the first look at the upcoming computer with renders created by Ian Zelbo. From what we can tell, it basically looks like a larger Mac mini.
That’s not a bad thing because judging from the renders, it still looks small and compact where it can sit on your desk without taking up too much space. Miani claims that in terms of size, it will measure around the same as the current M1 Mac mini, but will be four inches taller.
Apple’s Mac mini computers have typically been pitched as standard computers, giving users an alternative to the iMac all-in-one design but also acting as a more permanent alternative to the portable MacBook laptops. If this Mac Studio is indeed more powerful, it could give us a glimpse as to how Apple could potentially approach the Apple Silicon Mac Pro, which last we heard could actually be delayed to 2023.
