When Apple announced the Mac Studio last week, the company also put the computer up for pre-order. However, if you were hoping to get your hands on the computer anytime soon, there is a good chance you might end up waiting a bit longer than you might have previously expected.
This is due to the ongoing pandemic where a spike in cases over in Hong Kong has resulted in the Chinese government placing Shenzhen into lockdown, according to a report from the Associated Press. As part of this lockdown, the city of 17.5 million will be undergoing three rounds of testing as part of China’s zero tolerance strategy against the virus.
This means that unless a company supplies the essentials, like food, fuel, or other services deemed to be essential, they will be forced to close and companies will have to enact work-at-home policies. This is expected to be the case until the 20th of March at the earliest, meaning that any factories producing Apple’s Mac computers will be facing delays in their manufacturing process for at least the next week, if not longer.
Given that Shenzhen houses many manufacturers who produce components and products for all kinds of companies, Apple included, the lockdown will undoubtedly have an effect on production, so if you have ordered a Mac Studio, don’t be surprised if it arrives later than previously thought.
