If you weren’t quick on pulling the trigger on Apple’s new Mac Studio when it was first announced, then you might have to wait quite a bit before your computer arrives on your doorstep. This is because it appears that some configurations of the computer have been backordered to June.

Now this will vary from configuration to configuration. For example, the base, entry-level M1 Max version of the Mac Studio is expected to ship towards the middle of April, while the M1 Ultra version is expected to arrive in May, but changing those configurations and opting for higher-end parts will see it only arrive in June.

To be fair, we imagine that some users probably waited for the reviews before making their decision. After all, the M1 Ultra version is quite a hefty investment. At this point in time, it is unclear what could be causing the delays. It is possible that the computers are proving to be more popular than Apple had anticipated.

Alternatively, and a more likely scenario, could be due to the ongoing chip shortage which has recently been made worse due to lockdowns in China, particularly Shenzhen where a lot of manufacturing of electronics take place. Either way, if you’d rather not risk further delays, you might want to place an order now.
