Now according to a tweet by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, he has shared some additional details about the handset. To be fair, a lot of these details were known before, but it’s good to see Kuo at least corroborate some of them, especially given his very reliable track record when it comes to Apple related rumors.
Some predictions for the coming new iPhone SE:
1. Mass production in Mar'22.
2. Estimated shipments of 25-30 mn units in 2022.
3. Storage: 64/128/256GB.
4. A15 & 5G support (mmW & Sub-6 GHz).
5. Casing: white, black, and red.
6. Similar form factor design to current SE.— 郭明錤 (Ming-Chi Kuo) (@mingchikuo) March 4, 2022
According to Kuo, the iPhone SE 5G will be powered by an A15 chipset. For those unfamiliar, the A15 is the same chipset used to power the iPhone 13 series from 2021, so suffice to say that it is quite a powerful and capable chipset. It will also offer 5G connectivity, both mmWave and sub-6GHz, and it will also be offered in white, black, or red.
Kuo also claims that the phone will be keeping to the same form factor as the previous model, so for those hoping for an updated design, you might be disappointed. The analyst doesn’t mention pricing yet, but hopefully Apple will at the very least keep to its $399 price tag.
