The good news is that if you have a Windows 11 computer, it looks like Microsoft is getting ready to launch a new feature for the operating system that will introduce tabs to the File Explorer. Similar to browser tabs, what this change means is that users will be able to open multiple folders at once within the same window without many different windows open at the same time.

This feature was initially discovered by Windows Insider Rafael Rivera on Twitter where the settings had to be enabled for it to work, but once it was enabled, users have the option of choosing to open a new folder in a tab instead of a separate window. This is a feature that many Windows users have been asking for for years, so it looks like Microsoft has finally listened.
Microsoft has yet to officially announced the feature and as noted by Windows Central, it is currently only available in the Dev Channel, meaning that there is a chance Microsoft could cancel the feature before the next update ships, but fingerscrossed that they won’t!
