The smartphones are probably the most interesting products to consumers. All are powered by MediaTek, the #1 provider of Android smartphone SoC chips (by units) globally.
The new phones are the TCL 30 5G (€249), TCL 30+ (€199), TCL 30 (€179), TCL 30 SE (€149), and TCL 30 E (€139).
That seems like a lot of models within a tight price range, but in the real world, they won’t all be available at the same retailers, and some would probably land under some exclusive deals, so you won’t have to pull your hair to choose between them.
From what I can tell, TCL is trying to keep the user experience as uniform as possible, but of course, performance, whether speed or Camera, should be expected to be proportional to pricing.
With our CAMERA HW benchmark, we’ve demonstrated that camera performance mainly depends on the camera hardware. The price is often your first indicator in that context as it influences the components’ prices.
Technologically, the TCL 30 5G is the most interesting and seems to bring a lot of value at this ~250 Euros price point. My general advice is to get the most expensive one you can afford (easy, right?) as the value seems pretty proportional to the price.
Since that phone is certified as “Android Enterprise” ready, some of you might get your company to pay for it. It’s worth checking with your IT department as it may be one of the best options for the price.
All these phones have large screens, which means having enough room for a 5010 mAh large battery in the chassis. Combined with the power-efficient processor, you should be in for excellent battery life.
At the moment, the launch concerns Europe, but you can expect to see some of these in the rest of the world soon, so keep an eye out for them.
