All computers come with a limited number of ports, but sometimes this depends on the motherboard you’ve chosen where some do offer more ports than others. Also, it can depend on the computer manufacturer, like Apple where with their previous-gen MacBooks, they pretty much removed all the ports save for USB-C/Thunderbolt.
If you own a Mac and would like the flexibility of having more ports to connect your devices and peripherals to, then you might be interested in checking out Belkin’s new Connect Pro Thunderbolt 4 dock.
As the name suggests, this is a dock that connects to the Thunderbolt port of your computer. While Thunderbolt and USB-C do share the same connector design, one of the advantages of Thunderbolt is that it offers faster transfer speeds so if you work with a lot of external drives and deal with large files, it might be a better choice compared to regular docks/hubs.
Belkin’s Connect Pro Thunderbolt 4 dock will be able to support connections like monitors, where it can support single displays of up to 8K resolution, or dual 4K displays. It also comes with 2x Thunderbolt 4 ports (1x upstream, 1x downstream), 2x HDMI 2.0 ports, one USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 port, 2x USB-A 3.1 ports, 2x USB-A 2.0 ports, 1x SD card 4.0 reader, 1x Gigabit Ethernet port, 1x 3.5mm audio combo port, a PD 3.0 port for up to 90W of charging, and it even comes with a Thunderbolt 4 cable.
Belkin’s dock will not come cheap though as it is priced at $400, so it is clearly aimed at professionals who might require the speeds and ports that it offers.
