Apple To Fully Complete Their Transition To Apple Silicon By End Of 2022

In 2020 when Apple announced their plans to transition away from Intel processors to their own custom Apple Silicon chipsets, the company estimated that it would take them about two years. Now that we’re in 2022, it looks like Apple could actually be meeting their goal by the end of the year.

This is according to a tweet by leaker Dylandkt on Twitter where he claims that the transition will be fully complete in the fourth quarter of the year, with the Mac Pro being the last Apple computer to adopt the Apple Silicon chipset. To date, almost all of Apple’s computers have made the change to the Apple Silicon save for the 27-inch iMac and Mac Pro.

The Apple Silicon transition will end by Q4 of 2022. The Mac Pro will be the last device to be replaced. The Mac Pro’s processor will not be an extension of the M2. The processor of the Mac Pro will instead be a further extension of the M1 beyond the cores of the M1 Max.

What’s interesting about the tweet is that Dylandkt claims that for the Mac Pro, Apple will actually be using the M1 and not the M2, which is largely believed to be debuting this year. The leaker claims that the Mac Pro’s processor will actually be based on the M1 and will be an extension of the M1 Max with more cores.

We have heard rumors that the Mac Pro with Apple Silicon could feature as many as 40-cores and Dylandkt’s claims are in line with a report from The Information back in November 2021 where they too suggested that the computer would use a variation of the M1 Max.
