For 2022, LG has taken the wraps off brand new OLED evo TV models that will be used in its G2 and C2 series. The G2 series will come in a variety of size options that include 55-, 65-, 77-, 83-, and 97-inches, while the C2 series will offer 55-, 65-, 77-, and 83-inch options. While the G2 will continue to use the same chassis as its predecessor, LG will be using new composite fiber for the C2 series that will make it 50% lighter than the previous generation models.
Both the G2 and C2 TVs will also see an upgrade in sound technology, where instead of the 5.1.2 channel support in the previous models, they will be upgraded to 7.1.2 channel, and also support HDMI 2.1 port arrays.
As for software, LG will be using its Alpha 9 Gen 5 Processor 4K. According to LG, the new software will use deep learning to better enhance the upscaling performance, while also giving the images you see on the screen more three-dimensional quality that better separates the foreground elements from the background.
The new processor will also benefit the sound from the TVs with LG’s AI Sound Pro to help deliver more “lifelike” audio. The company does not mention how much its new OLED evo TVs will cost, but we imagine it probably won’t come cheap.
