Lenovo launched two mobile computers optimized for classrooms with the Lenovo 10w tablet and Lenovo 13w Yoga clamshell. Both are built on cost-effective hardware platforms that ensure an excellent performance/price ratio.
The $329 10w tablet runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c platform and has a 10.1-inch display, as the name indicates. With up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of flash storage, this is suitable for basic computing tasks.
The 10w can attach to a keyboard that turns it into a clamshell convertible laptop. That makes about twice as thick, but the productivity gain is worth it.
Thanks to its 2MP webcam, students can join virtual classes, and there’s also an 8MP rear camera if the student needs to share something during a live call. That sure beats having only the selfie webcam in many situations.
The $749 Lenovo 13w Yoga has a 1080p 13.3” display and is meant to be a bit more powerful, thanks to its AMD Ryzen 7 5000 U-Series processor platform.
This convertible PC can be ordered with 16GB and a 512GB SSD, which is very respectable for an education-oriented laptop. RAM and SSD are user-upgradable if you want to start small and upgrade later at an even more favorable cost.
Both laptops run on Windows 11 SE, an OS version optimized for an education environment, including tighter app installation controls, full-screen app launch, and administrative functions.
Lenovo also includes its NetFilter software, a security layer that can block unsafe content based on several heuristics that are updated regularly. Both computers will be available “in April,” according to Lenovo.
