We had previously heard from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman that Apple could announce the new iPhone SE 5G in March, but analyst Ross Young believes differently and claims that the handset could actually end up being announced most likely in the second half of April or early May, with shipments expected to follow roughly around the same time.
Apple 5G SE model starting panel production this month. Phone production likely from March. This means a launch is likely for 2H April/early May with shipments from late April or early May.

It should be noted that Apple does typically host an event in the early part of the year where we are usually treated to iPad and Mac-related announcements and refreshes, so March or April sounds about right. Also, if you recall, Apple held an event last April where the iPad Pro was refreshed with the M1 chipset, so Young’s prediction of an April launch seems about right.
The upcoming iPhone SE isn’t expected to be too different from its predecessor, but the main selling feature would be its support for 5G, making it the cheapest 5G iPhone that one can buy.
