iOS 15.4 Will Let Users Unlock Their iPhones While Wearing A Mask

As we are still wearing our masks due to the ongoing pandemic, this has created some problems such as unlocking our iPhones using Face ID. However, Apple did come up with a workaround by allowing users with an Apple Watch to unlock their iPhones while wearing a face mask.

But what about users who did not own an Apple Watch? It didn’t really seem fair, right? The good news is that Apple appears to be remedying the situation. According to the latest iOS 15.4 beta that was released to developers, it appears that Apple is making some changes to the way Face ID works, where users can actually choose an option to unlock their iPhones while wearing a mask without needing an Apple Watch.

Unfortunately, there is some bad news about this feature and that is it will only work with the iPhone 12 and newer. While Face ID was originally introduced in the iPhone X back in 2017, it seems that this feature will only be able to work with the iPhone 12 and newer, which for now basically only covers the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series, so those with the iPhone X, XS, or iPhone 11 are out of luck.

We’re not sure what so different about the previous iPhones with Face ID that makes them incompatible with this feature, but unless something changes in future betas, older iPhone users are out of luck here.
