What To Expect At CES 2022

CES is the event to follow if you love following tech news and like seeing all the new advancements made in tech. It is where companies showcase their latest products and technology advancements as well as out-of-this-world concepts that we can drool over.

In 2022 some in-person events are happening again for those who are hoping to see and maybe even touch and experience some of these tech showcases themselves in real life. There are also a lot of virtual events, including from our main CES 2022 sponsor, Lenovo. Thank you! You can follow Lenovo’s CES announcements at the official Lenovo CES 2022 hub and on Twitter with the #LenovoCES hashtag, Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube.

That being said, if you’re wondering what’s in store for CES 2022, here’s our rundown on what you might be able to expect from one of the biggest tech expos in the world which is currently scheduled to run from the 5th of January to the 8th of January, 2022.

Automobiles

Every year at CES, we see carmakers show off their latest car models. Given that we’re seeing an increased focus towards electric cars and cars with self-driving capabilities, we expect that we’ll be seeing some showcases in the advancements that carmakers have made in that field.

CES is also where some carmakers show off concepts of how they envision cars will look like in the future, ranging from concept technology to concept designs, all of which should prove to be rather interesting and exciting if you’re into automobiles.

TVs And Displays

Without fail, pretty much every CES event sees companies such as Samsung, LG, Sony, and Panasonic (just to name a few) show off their latest advancements in display technology. What’s interesting is that over the years, quite a few of these concepts have actually translated into reality.

Take for example flexible displays which were a wild concept back when they were first introduced, but have since resulted in phones with displays that can be folded, TVs with displays that can be rolled up onto itself and hidden when not in use, and more. We can also probably expect to see displays that are even thinner than ever, able to produce more vivid colors, more energy efficient, and so on.

Home Entertainment Systems

If you’re looking for a new set of speakers to go with your brand new TV, CES will most definitely not disappoint. We’ve seen many companies launch new speaker systems and home entertainment systems at CES, and CES 2022 shouldn’t be too different. If anything, we expect that we will be seeing more smart speakers from more traditional speaker makers.

We’re talking about speakers that come with digital assistants built into them, such as Amazon’s Alexa and Google Assistant. We also expect to see more wireless speakers that will support features like direct streaming or the ability to play them wirelessly using protocols like Apple’s AirPlay 2.

Don’t be surprised if we also see a deluge of announcements from headphone manufacturers who are eager to show off their latest in portable audio technology.

Smart Home

Smart home gadgets are also another popular genre at CES, especially with the world growing increasingly connected. We’ve see all kinds of smart devices launched at CES in the past, ranging from smart home appliances like ovens that can be controlled using your smartphone or smart speaker, home security cameras, smart toilets, refrigerators that can remind you to buy food when you run low, video doorbells, smart lighting, and more.

Digital Health

Also somewhat loosely connected with smart homes, the digital health space is also one to keep an eye out for. In the past we’ve seen devices like smart bathroom mats that can weigh you and help you keep track of your weight.

We’ve also seen gadgets like smart toothbrushes that can help you brush your teeth more efficiently, and also gameify the process so that kids will be more eager to keep their teeth clean.

We wouldn’t be surprised if companies were to also announce new wearables and fitness trackers designed to keep them fit.

Computers

What would CES be without new computers, right? If you’re looking forward to new desktops and laptops powered by Intel’s new 12th generation Core processors, but also by MediaTek and Qualcomm PC chips. CES is the place where a lot of companies take the opportunity to unveil new computer systems that will eventually be released throughout the year.

We expect to see new laptops from the usual suspects such as Lenovo, Dell, Acer, ASUS, Samsung, and LG, and more, so whether you’re looking for a cheap and portable laptop, or a desktop system for work and school, or powerful gaming rigs, there should be something for everyone.

Smartphones And Tablets

While MWC is probably the best place for smartphone makers to announce new mobile devices, some do take the opportunity at CES to unveil some upcoming mobile devices. Some might even use CES to unveil concepts that they’re working on, some of which could eventually become reality, some of which are cool enough where we hope to see it become reality.

Conclusion

CES 2022 will be the first in-person event to take place after the organizers kind of took a break from it earlier this year. If you’re planning to attend the event itself, there will be plenty of things to see, touch, and experience, but if you’re not attending, not to worry as we’ll be providing you coverage on some of the best and coolest things we’ll be coming across at the show, so stay tuned!
