This is according to a report from Bloomberg who claims that three key engineers who were part of the project have since left to join other startups. This includes Eric Rogers, who worked as head of engineering for the car’s radar system; Alex Clarabut who worked on the Apple Car’s batteries; and Stephen Spiteri, another engineer.
All three engineers are said to have left the car to join Joby Aviation, a startup looking to develop a flying-taxi vehicle. While it’s not uncommon for employees to leave and join other companies, the fact of the matter is that Apple has yet to launch the vehicle, which means that losing engineers during the developmental stages can cause some huge setbacks.
It is also not the first time that Apple has lost key employees in its Apple Car project. Earlier this year, it was reported that several other employees had left, which included the head of teams who were working on robotics for the Apple Car, and also the head of a team who had been leading the safety and regulations side of things.
