However, this left the 27-inch iMac as the only iMac in the lineup not to get the M1 treatment, at least not yet. Now according to a new report from Display Supply Chain, it seems that Apple will be launching a new iMac in 2022 in the form of a 27-inch iMac Pro. We’re not sure if this is the naming scheme Apple will be going for, so take it with a grain of salt.
The new iMac Pro is expected to feature the use of a mini LED display and will also feature ProMotion technology, which is basically Apple’s marketing term for a 120Hz refresh rate. The computer is expected to launch in the spring of 2022, which means we can expect to see it between March to June of next year.
Given the “Pro” moniker, it is possible that this new Mac will come with Apple’s higher-end chipsets in the form of the M1 Max and the M1 Pro. We’re not sure if this means that there will no longer be a 27-inch iMac aimed at regular consumers, but if you’re in need of a powerful Mac and don’t want a laptop setup or the Mac Pro, then this could be a computer worth looking forward to.
