The availability of the podcast subscription was limited to the US at the start, but the good news is that podcasters in other countries will now be able to take part in it. Spotify has announced the expansion of their podcast subscription program where it will now cover an additional 33 countries.
This includes Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
The company says that they will be adding Canada, Germany, Austria, and France to the list next week. The company will currently not be taking any cuts from subscription revenue for the first two years, but come 2023, they will be taking a 5% cut, so podcasters should get in now if they’re trying to avoid fees as much as possible.
Spotify’s announcement of the feature earlier this year was on the heels of Apple’s own announcement where they too have launched their own podcast subscription feature.
