Fingerprint Sensor Calibration Tool Released For The Pixel 6

Fingerprint sensors have become the default security feature on smartphones these days, but despite it being such a long-standing staple and feature, Google’s Pixel 6 smartphones have issues with the sensor. Users have been reporting that not only is it slow, but there is also a concern that should the screen be replaced, the sensor will no longer work as the phone uses an in-display sensor.

However, it seems that on the Google Pixel Update and Software Repair page, the company has released a fingerprint sensor calibration tool for the Pixel 6. Now, it should be noted that this isn’t a tool meant to be used regularly, but rather it should be used in the event the display of the phone has been replaced, in which the tool will then help to recalibrate the sensor.

This will make it easier during the repair process where if you plan to take it to a third-party repair store or if you actually plan on doing the replacement yourself, you might be able to get the fingerprint sensor to work again by running the calibration tool.

Also, as XDA suggests, other possible uses for it could be when you start using custom ROMs or make other software modifications that could potentially interfere with the sensor, so hopefully this tool will help users get it back up and running again.
