NVIDIA might be viewed as a company that makes GPUs for computers, but they are much more than that. They also work on AI and the company’s latest demonstration is actually very fascinating and also very impressive.
This comes in the form of GauGAN2, an updated version of NVIDIA’s AI system that debuted on the Canvas app earlier this year. For those unfamiliar, Canvas is an app that can generate photorealistic scenes through simple brush strokes, meaning that users don’t need to have painting skills to create beautiful works of art, just let the AI handle the rest.
With GauGAN2, NVIDIA has taken its AI one step further where it will be able to generate photorealistic scenes, except this time it will let users use sentences to describe it to the computer. This means that instead of having to provide the AI with a rough drawing of what you intended, you simply tell it what you are picturing in your head, and it will generate a photorealistic scene based on your description alone.
The best part is that if you’re curious, you don’t need to have some kind of super computer equipped with NVIDIA’s GPU. You can actually try out the GauGAN2 demo on NVIDIA’s website, so head on over if you want to take it for a spin.
