When Netflix Games first launched on mobile, it was only available on Android. It was speculated that it could be due to Apple’s App Store rules that was causing a slight delay in the iOS launch, and it was later reported that Netflix could launch their games as individual titles on the App Store.
It turns out the reports were right because according to a report from Bloomberg, Netflix’s games are now available on iOS where the games are now listed as individual titles. This includes Stranger Things: 1984, Stranger Things 3: The Game, Shooting Hoops, Teeter (Up), and Card Blast.
What’s interesting about these games is that it seems that Netflix has decided to finally allow users to subscribe to their service via in-app purchases. Prior to this, users who wanted to watch Netflix on their iPhones or iPads had to sign up for an account and subscribe via Netflix’s website, which allowed the company to bypass Apple’s cut from the App Store.
However, it seems that users who want to play any of these Netflix titles but do not have an active Netflix subscription will now be able to subscribe to Netflix through any of these apps. Perhaps it was one of the concessions Netflix made in order to get its games onto the App Store, but what’s also interesting is that the main Netflix app still asks users to go to its website to manage their accounts.
