With the massive success that Niantic experienced with Pokemon Go, the company later decided to expand their offerings by launching Harry Potter: Wizards Unite a couple of years ago. Combine Niantic’s experience and success with Pokemon Go and the fact that Harry Potter is another massively popular franchise, it seemed like a recipe for success.
However, it turns out that maybe that is not the case because in a post made on its Harry Potter: Wizards Unite website, Niantic has announced that they will be shutting down the game. This will come into effect on the 31st of January, 2022, but the app will be removed from all its available app stores on the 6th of December, along with the ability to make in-app purchases.
The company doesn’t say why the game will be shutting down, but it is a pity considering that Pokemon Go is still going on strong years after it was first launched. Now, the good news is that Niantic will be closing the game with a bang by announcing a ton of events that players can participate in over the months of November and December leading up to its closure in January.
So if you’ve always been curious about the game, now’s your last chance to check it out before it is gone for good.
