If you were worried that this would mean that Google wasn’t going to do anything about it, you can relax because it seems that Google has recently pushed out an update for the Pixel 6 that should address the issue.
According to Google, “The current software update improves the performance of your device’s fingerprint sensor.” We don’t have the Pixel 6 or the Pixel 6 Pro so we can’t really speak as to how well the update has improved the fingerprint sensor, but we suppose anything is better than what it was previously (unless the update itself is bugged).
Users who have the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro, you can try manually pulling the update if you haven’t gotten the notification yet. You can go to the phone’s Settings > System > Advanced > System update and see if the update is available for you to download. It is a shame that such a standard feature is causing so many issues on an otherwise excellent and interesting handset, so hopefully this update will fix the issue for good.
