One of the useful features of a widget is that it lets you see information at a glance without actually having to open the app itself. This means that if you need to quickly see what events are coming up or the weather, you’ll be able to do so without launching the calendar or weather app on your phone, saving you time in the process.
If you’re a Gmail user, then you might be interested to learn that Google has announced an update to the Gmail iOS app where its widgets will now offer users the option to include their inbox on their home screen. This means that at a glance, users will be able to see their latest emails without having to open the app.
Email widgets on iOS aren’t new and there are several email apps, such as Spark, that already offer users similar functionality. However, given that Gmail is one of the most used email platforms out there and many also appreciate the features of Google’s own Gmail app, this could be a much-welcome update.
According to Google, these changes are expected to be rolled out in the coming weeks, so if an inbox home screen widget is something you’ve been hoping for, it should be available for your device soon enough.
