Unfortunately, if this was a feature you were looking forward to, you might be disappointed to learn that it will not be happening until 2022. The feature was originally intended to be launched by the end of the year, but an update to Apple’s website now says that it is expected to arrive in early 2022 instead.
It is unclear why the feature has been delayed from its initial launch by the end of 2021, but perhaps there are still some legal or regulatory hurdles that Apple needs to clear first. The feature was initially intended to be launched for residents in Arizona and Georgia, and that residents in Connecticut, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Oklahoma, and Utah would get the feature shortly after.
The company is also in talks with other states to make it legally available so that eventually the entire country could make use of it. Given that the feature has not been spotted in the latest iOS 15.2 beta, don’t hold your breath at seeing it anytime soon.
