Twitch’s Source Code, User Payout Information, And More Stolen In Massive Data Breach

Twitch is one of the most popular streaming platforms in the world right now, so as you can imagine, there are probably millions of users on its platform. Unfortunately for those users and streamers, it looks like the company has experienced a massive data breach because a hacker has posted online that they have in their possession, a 125GB file containing a bunch of Twitch data.

This data includes things like the platform’s source code, proprietary services, user information, and even streamer payout information. This was initially reported by VideoGameChronicles and Twitch has since verified that the breach is real and have stated that they are investigating the extent of the breach and will update users as soon as possible.

According to the hacker who posted about the breach, the intention was apparently to “foster more disruption and competition in the online video streaming space”, and also because “their community is a disgusting toxic cesspool”. Twitch does indeed have its fair share of problematic users and streamers, but it seems that the actions that they have taken to date simply wasn’t enough for this particular hacker.

If you do have a Twitch account, then you might want to quickly log into your account and change your password and also make sure that you have two-factor authentication enabled just to be safe.
