Rode’s Wireless Go II is a pretty great microphone if you’re looking to travel with one and also do not want to deal with wires and cables. The downside is that you need to connect it to your computer in order to change certain settings related to the microphone, which is kind of annoying to be honest.
However, the good news is that Rode has since issued an update to the Rode Central mobile app where users can now control the microphone using the smartphone app. You will need to update the microphone one more time by connecting it to your computer, but once that’s done, you won’t need to bother connecting it with your computer again to change its settings.
The bad news is that for whatever reason, there is still no ability for users to transfer recordings made on the Wireless Go II microphone directly to their smartphones. This means that ultimately, you’ll still need to connect it to a computer over USB in order to offload the recordings, but hopefully Rode has plans for a future update that will give users more options as to how and where they want to offload their recordings to.
If you own the Rode Wireless Go II microphone and would like to take advantage of this new wireless control feature, then make sure to download the Rode Central app for your smartphone.
