However, with the upcoming Google Pixel 6, it seems that Google could be offering as long as five years of security updates. This is according to a tweet by Evan Blass who shared a link to a Carphonewarehouse listing, which has since been taken down, in which it suggests that Google will be providing the Pixel 6 series with at least five years of security updates.

We’re not sure how many years of major Android updates it will be getting. If we had to venture a guess, we’d say at least two major updates, maybe even three. However, after that Google seems to be promising that the device will be protected from the latest threats for at least five years.
This means that even if you don’t get major Android updates, your device will remain protected against security threats long after. Five years is actually a pretty long time because at the rate people upgrade their phones, there is a good chance you will get a new phone before support for security updates runs out. Either way, we should have more details next week at Google’s Pixel 6 event so check back with us then for the updates.
