The problem with a lot of smartwatches is that they don’t look like your typical watch. For some, this is important because it might be hard to pair a smartwatch with a fancier outfit. If you are looking for a smartwatch that can pass off as a more traditional analog timepiece, then Czech-based Leitners could have something for you.
The company has revealed their plans to launch the Ad Maiora, a hybrid watch that combines the movement of traditional analog watches, but also comes with a host of sensors that will make the watch smart. This includes features like the ability to track your heart rate, activity, notifications, and more.
However, on the surface (as you can see in the photo above), it looks like a regular timepiece. It will make use of the Miyota 9039 caliber automatic movement so as far as appearances are concerned, it looks like a normal watch. The company has also taken advantage of the use of an e-paper display embedded in the face of the watch itself to display information like notifications.
The use of e-paper has the advantage of being low-energy while at the same time helping it blend into the watch’s face. We have to say it’s actually a pretty clever design and could appeal to those who want a more traditional watch but not miss out on the hi-tech features of a smartwatch.
