Now the good news is that it looks like Instagram has decided to roll out the feature for all users. This means that if you’ve always wanted to include a link in your Stories, you’ll now be able to do so. Prior to this, Instagram required that users be verified in order to include links in their Stories, presumably to prevent spam and to cut down on potentially fraudulent/malicious links.
The company had previously claimed that these links are useful for businesses and activists who might be able to use these links to link to their products or other resources, but they later conceded that it’s useful for pretty much anyone who wants to engage with their followers.
As for concerns regarding spam links or malicious links, Instagram says that accounts that are found to repeatedly use these links to share misinformation or hate speech will end up losing access to it, so it’s not as if Instagram will be letting users run wild and free with the feature, which is a good thing.
