The company has debuted the speaker and positioned it as a rugged set of portable speakers. It features the use of a silicone rear and a powder-coated steel grill that the company claims will help protect it from bumps and drops. It even has an IP67 rating which makes it water-resistant, and Bose even claims that the speakers will float if dropped into water.
However, the IP67 rating means that it’s not meant to be floating in the pool alongside you while you chill, so while it might survive a dunk or two, you’ll want to fish it out ASAP. The company also boasts that the speaker has been designed to be UV light resistant, so it won’t peel or flake if you leave it outdoors.
The speakers also feature a custom transducer that will supposedly deliver “bass that you can feel in your chest” along with higher audio clarity, and the use of Bose’s digital signal processor will help minimize distortion. The speakers feature Bluetooth connectivity and can connect with up to eight devices and has a battery life of about 12 hours. It is priced at $149 and is available for order via Bose’s website.
