The Apple Watch Series 7 features some very minor changes to its design where Apple has made the faces slightly larger compared to the previous generation. However, it turns out that Apple has also updated the charging puck of the Apple Watch because according to YouTuber iMatteo, it seems that the new Apple Watch is shipping with an aluminum puck.
For those who own an Apple Watch, you’re probably familiar with the plastic magnetic puck that Apple includes to charge the Apple Watch with. There’s nothing wrong with this puck since for the most part, it sits on your desk or in a stand, but it appears that the Series 7 comes with an updated design where the puck is now made out of aluminum, not plastic.
Also, it appears that Apple has made the puck USB-C compatible instead of USB-A as with previous generations. This means that users who do not already own a USB-C charger will need to buy one to make it work with the charging puck. Since Apple does not include a charging brick, you’ll have to buy one yourself.
However, the upside is that by switching over to USB-C, the Series 7 will actually be capable of charging faster than its predecessor, where it will be able to hit 80% battery with a little over 45 minutes of charging.
