The company has announced that assuming you own a compatible smartphone and car, you will be able to use the company’s Galaxy smartphones to unlock and start your car. This includes newer Samsung devices like the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, the Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Z Fold 3, the Galaxy S21+ and the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Oddly enough the new Galaxy Z Flip 3 is missing from the list.
However, for now car compatibility is extremely limited as it will only work with the Genesis GV60, but then again, this isn’t really Samsung’s fault as this is still relatively new tech. We imagine that in the future this could eventually become a standard feature. This is made possible thanks to the use of NFC and UWB technology built into the smartphones.
Also, at the start this feature will be limited to Korea where the feature is expected to roll out by the end of the year.
