It turns out that maybe that might not be such a bad thing, that is if you don’t watch NBC’s channels or shows. Google has since responded to the dispute with a public statement of their own where it seems that if NBC and its channels really does end up leaving YouTube TV, subscription prices could go down by as much as $10 a month.
Right now YouTube TV costs $65 a month, but once NBC’s channels are dropped, so will the subscription where it will cost $55. Apparently the dispute between both companies is over the cost, where NBC wants to charge YouTube TV more once its current contract expires and if they renew it, but Google says that doing so would prevent them from offering YouTube TV at a “competitive and fair price”.
According to Google, “Our ask is that NBCU treats YouTube TV like any other TV provider. In other words, for the duration of our agreement, YouTube TV seeks the same rates that services of a similar size get from NBCU so we can continue offering YouTube TV to members at a competitive and fair price.”
