This means that if you own an iPhone and you’re moving to a Samsung phone, you will be able to transfer your chat history easily. However, this isn’t a wireless process which means that you’ll need a cable that can connect to your iPhone and to your new Samsung handset, which is basically a USB-C to Lightning cable or an adapter equivalent.
That is basically the only obstacle, but assuming you have such a cable already or an adapter, then the transfer process should be pretty straightforward. Right now this feature is pretty much a one-way deal meaning that it works from iPhones to Samsung phones. It will not work the other way around, nor does it work for other devices yet.
However, like we said, WhatsApp is working on allowing the migration of chat history across platforms with its own end-to-end encrypted cloud backup option, so it’s only a matter of time before it will be available for other devices. More information on the steps to make the transfer can be found on WhatsApp’s website.
