According to the numbers, iOS 15 has been installed on 19.3% of devices to date, but when you look at iOS 14, it managed to hit over 30% in the same period of time. This suggests that people are way less enthused about the changes Apple is bringing to iOS 15 and aren’t rushing out to update their devices just yet.
There could be a number of reasons why that is. This could include the various bugs discovered in the initial release that could be holding people back. There could also be the issue of security vulnerabilities that are still present in iOS 15 despite Apple being warned ahead of time, and last but not least, iOS 15 was supposed to introduce Apple’s controversial CSAM scanning feature.
While plans for the implementation of CSAM has been put on hold, there is no indication that Apple will be dropping it, so that could be another reason why users are holding back. We imagine that eventually iOS 15 adoption numbers will rise, but for now, many users seem to be holding off on it.
